Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Raul Hughes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gary Goodridge!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hughes getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
It looks like Gary Goodridge has been cut.
Hughes is looking to clinch but Goodridge is avoiding it.
Goodridge will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Hughes rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Goodridge moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Hughes drops Goodridge with a big left hand and mounts him. Goodridge is in big trouble!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hughes controlling the pace for now.
Goodridge wants to try and get back to his feet.
Hughes is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Oh, that's a big right hand from Hughes and Goodridge goes tumbling to the canvas! Hughes follows him to the ground and looks to finish from half guard.
Goodridge is rocked!
That has opened up Gary Goodridge's cut even more.
Hughes with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Goodridge pushes Hughes off but Hughes dives into side control.
Goodridge trying to remain calm as Hughes controls from the top position.
Hughes misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Goodridge tries to escape but Hughes is in control.
Hughes controls the position.
Goodridge pushes Hughes away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Hughes gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Goodridge looks gassed!
A lull in the action here.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Hughes decides to stand up, so the ref orders Goodridge to his feet.
Hughes tries to close the distance and clinch but Goodridge swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Hughes fails with an attempt to clinch.
Goodridge fails to land with a series of punches.
Hughes thuds his right hand into Goodridge's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
The cut above Gary Goodridge's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Hughes is looking to clinch but Goodridge is avoiding it.
Hughes lands with a right and another and another! Goodridge is in big trouble! Hughes lands again and this time it's lights out for Goodridge! A quality knockout there for Hughes.
