Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Frank Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, David Reed!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Fedor Mirinova and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from Reed misses.
Reed uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Smith.
Smith misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Reed looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Smith wants to land a leg kick but Reed is out of range.
Smith misses with a leg kick.
A head kick misses from Reed.
Smith lands a slapping body shot.
A combination from Smith does no damage.
Smith takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
A punch lands to the side of Reed 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Smith misses with a series of wild punches.
Smith misses with a head kick.
Smith on the wrong end of a nice jab.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
A jab lands there for Smith.
Reed tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Smith is able to avoid easily.
The fighters circling - Smith throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Reed lands a head kick. Smith smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Reed has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Smith takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Smith fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Smith blocks a leg kick.
Smith throws a jab when Reed was well out of range.
Reed takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Smith listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Reed goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Reed looks to land a right hand but Smith moved out of range.
Smith avoids the head kick by Reed.
Reed throws a head kick but Smith moves out of range.
Reed blocks a jab.
Reed throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
David Reed is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Reed thumps Smith with a low kick.
Reed lands with a straight right. Smith didn't see that one coming.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Smith gets the takedown into side control.
Smith working away.
Reed is looking to reverse the position.

Reed parries the strikes from Smith easily there. Smith is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Reed to escape.
Reed pushes Smith away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Smith gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Smith is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Reed asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Reed sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Smith is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Smith dodges the ground and pound from Reed.

Smith is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Smith throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
Reed wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Reed moves away from the strike by Smith.
Smith scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

Smith shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Reed sprawls well. Reed wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Smith gets slowly back to his feet.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Reed.
Reed lands with a good body shot.
Reed works the jab nicely.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Reed keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Smith is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Reed's half guard.
Smith is breathing heavily.
Smith wants to take a breather but Reed is having none of it.

Smith stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Smith swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Reed tests Smith's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Reed has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Smith slips a jab from Reed.
Reed is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Reed.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Frank Smith will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Smith scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Reed throws a wild body kick that Smith sees coming a mile off.
Smith swinging wildly here.
Smith takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Reed throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Reed misses with a body kick.
Smith on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Smith thuds his right hand into Reed's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Smith misses with a few strikes there.
Reed stuffs the takedown.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Smith misses with an uppercut.
Reed appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

David Reed seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Reed turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
A shot to the body from Reed misses
and Smith counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Reed throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Smith misses with a two punch combination.
Reed throws a head kick but Smith moves out of range.
Smith throws a leg kick but Reed checks it.
Smith ducks under a wild hook from Reed.
It looked like Smith wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Reed thuds a left hand into Smith's body.
Smith cracks Reed with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Reed misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Smith scores with a nice head shot.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Smith crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Reed - the referee stops the clock and Smith gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Reed. Smith manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Reed bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Smith's head.
Reed scores with a push kick.
Smith goes for a double leg but Reed avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Reed continues to drive forward.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Reed - that will leave a mark!
Reed jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.

Smith lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

Reed throws a wild body kick that Smith sees coming a mile off.

David Reed showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Smith connects with a good right hand that stumbles Reed. Reed circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Smith shoots in and drives through. Reed sprawls well.
The fighters circle momentarily. Reed darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Smith has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Reed finds it's way round the side to connect with Smith's head.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Smith closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Reed is trying to maintain the position but Smith is very close to passing his half guard.

Reed is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

Reed manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Smith dips to his left and cracks Reed with an uppercut!
Smith lands a nice looking body shot.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Reed swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Smith blocks a head kick by Reed.
Smith is looking for a counter combo.
Reed just misses with a punch to the body.
Reed misses with a looping right.
Reed takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Smith keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Smith closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Reed quickly recovers to half guard.
Smith seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Smith stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Reed throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

Smith throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Smith misses with a few strikes there.
Reed tries to land a front kick but Smith steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Smith motions for Reed to come forward. Smith throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Reed misses with a straight left.
Both fighters circling a little - Reed finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Reed looks to land a left hand but Smith moved out of range nicely.
Reed misses with a hook. Smith ducked under it nicely.
Reed stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Smith lands a head shot.
Smith shoots for a double leg takedown but Reed sprawls well. He's pushed Smith's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Smith fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Reed manages to avoid it.
Reed throws a head kick that misses.
Smith looks to land a left hand but Reed moved out of range nicely.
Reed flicks out a counter leg kick but Smith steps away.
Reed has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.

David Reed comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
