Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Stewart Tennent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fred Silverman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Stewart Tennent!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Fred Silverman!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Hugh Johnson and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silverman tries to land a leg kick but Tennent saw it coming and moves away.
Nice shot by Silverman.
Tennent tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Tennent throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Silverman.
A low kick from Tennent misses
and Silverman counters with a left to the body.
Tennent shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Silverman counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Tennent is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Silverman sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Tennent defending well though.

Silverman is taking a breather. Tennent says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Tennent is defending against the submission attempts here by Silverman.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Silverman moves into full mount! Tennent won't be happy about that!
Silverman throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Silverman tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Silverman thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Poor strikes thrown by Silverman there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Silverman takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Let's hope that Silverman has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Despite being in the dominant position, Fred Silverman just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Silverman avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Nice uppercut there from Silverman.
Tennent doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Silverman cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Good shot there by Silverman.
Tennent clinches but Silverman breaks the clinch
and Silverman counters with a stiff right hand.
Silverman throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Silverman closes the distance and clinches up with Tennent, looking for a takedown. Silverman pushes Tennent against the cage but Tennent circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Silverman lands with a nice body punch.

Silverman shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Tennent's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fred Silverman dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Tennent misses the body punch

and Silverman counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Tennent's guard now.

Silverman pushes down on Tennent's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Silverman's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Tennent blocking the ground and pound attempt from Silverman.

Silverman wants to lay and pray for a moment but Tennent keeps working.

Silverman takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.

Tennent trying to control the action but Silverman just sinks the hooks in.
Tennent is covering up but some of the strikes from Silverman are getting through and doing damage.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fred Silverman showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

and Silverman counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

and Silverman counters with a nice double leg into side control. Tennent won't be happy with that.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Silverman is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Tennent is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Silverman tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Silverman is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Tennent's shoulder. That is not cool.
Silverman in side control lands a decent elbow.
Tennent is looking for a sweep.
Silverman working the ground and pound but Tennent is defending the strikes.

Silverman moves into full mount!
Silverman controlling the position easily from mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
BOOM! Silverman connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Silverman is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Tennent can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Tennent is desperately trying to improve his position but Silverman has a good base and remains in mount.

And that's the end of the fight!
Fred Silverman comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Silverman has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
