Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Janu Haperenu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tricta Phan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Janu Haperenu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tricta Phan!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Phan cracks Haperenu with a good jab.


It looks like Janu Haperenu has been cut.
Haperenu throws a right hand that Phan ducks under and follows up with a left that Phan also avoids with ease.
Haperenu lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Phan throws a half hearted mid kick.

Haperenu looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Phan!
Phan tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Haperenu stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.

Haperenu shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Phan's guard.

Phan working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Haperenu has passed into half guard!
Phan is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Phan moves into full guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Phan keeping moving, preventing Haperenu from controlling successfully.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Haperenu looking to pass the guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Phan looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Haperenu trying to control but Phan is working from the bottom.
Haperenu works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Haperenu is trying to control the action in half guard but Phan is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Phan tries to roll over but Haperenu keeps him under control.
Phan looks gassed!
Haperenu is taking a breather. Phan says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Haperenu seems to be working for a kimura but Phan defends the submission attempt.
Phan is trying to get back to full guard.
Haperenu wants to pass to mount but Phan is defending the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Haperenu wants to lay and pray for a moment but Phan keeps working.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Haperenu throws an overhand right that lands on Phan's shoulder, as Phan tries to avoid the shot.
Haperenu moves in looking to clinch but Phan pushes him off.
Phan connects with a nice looking jab.
Haperenu will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Haperenu takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Haperenu shoots in but Phan avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Haperenu throws a head kick that misses.
Haperenu lands a right hook to the body.
Haperenu pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Phan shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Haperenu counters with a head kick. That will keep Phan thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Phan doesn't manage to clinch there - Haperenu circles away.
Phan takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Phan looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Haperenu swats away the attempt to clinch by Phan.
Phan throws a lazy body kick

and Haperenu counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Phan!
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Phan is looking to improve his position but Haperenu isn't that keen on the idea.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Haperenu is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
Haperenu scores with a nice body kick.
Haperenu lands a big head kick that sends Phan to the canvas! Haperenu follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Janu Haperenu!
