Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Hideo Kono (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Genghis Ron (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ron is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Carmina Burana O Fortuna. Genghis Ron has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Paulsen Ambrosius and Paul Aken.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ron misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Kono counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Ron scores with a jab to the head.
Kono misses with a body kick.
A looping hook to the body misses from Ron. Kono does a little dance to reset his feet.
Ron drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Kono pushes Ron away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Ron gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Kono is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
Kono trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Ron wants to control but Kono is keeping him busy.

Kono is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Ron has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Ron working the strikes but Kono uses the opportunity to regain half guard.
Ron stops Kono from getting back to his feet.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Kono uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Ron.
Kono dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Ron. That did some damage!
Kono connects with a leg kick. Ron looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Kono lands a nice looking body kick.
Kono misses with a kick to the body.
Ron is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Kono with a body shot.
Kono pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Ron throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Ron shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kono sprawls well. Kono wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Ron gets slowly back to his feet.
Ron ducks under a wild hook from Kono.

Ron walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Ron bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Kono lands a glancing blow to the side of Ron's head.

Kono goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Ron fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

Kono throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Ron closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Ron misses with a hook. Kono ducked under it nicely.
Ron shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kono sprawls well. Kono wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Ron gets slowly back to his feet.
Ron just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromKono.
Hideo Kono has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Genghis Ron.
Kono punishes Ron's body with a nice straight punch.
Kono lands a jab to Ron's midsection.
Kono throws a hook but Ron avoids it easily.
Ron doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Ron tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Ron missing with a left hand there. Kono was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Ron tries to clinch up but Kono circles away and keeps his distance.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kono was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

We've been informed that Ron has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
A head kick misses from Kono.
Kono fakes the leg kick and cracks Ron in the body.
Ron looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Ron throws a head kick that misses
and Kono counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Hideo Kono dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
A decent looking cross lands there for Ron.
Ron avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Ron! But no joy.
Kono lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Ron fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Kono to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Kono looks to clinch but Ron throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Kono taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:17 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Genghis Ron!
During a confident post fight interview, Genghis Ron thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
