Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Garth Cantu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jordan William (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jordan William will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Garth Cantu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jordan William!
The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Hugh Johnson and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cantu throws a body punch but William moves out of range.
William with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

Cantu tries to keep at a distance but William has taken the fight into the clinch.
Cantu is trying to force a seperation but William has the dominant position.
Cantu is trying to break the clinch but William is controlling him.

William manages to break the clinch.

Cantu closes the distance and pushes William back into the cage.
The referee is keeping an eye on William - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Cantu stops a takedown attempt from William.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
William tries to pull guard but Cantu holds him up against the cage and eventually William drops back down to his feet.
Cantu prevents the takedown attempt.
Garth Cantu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jordan William.
Cantu has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

William shoots in for a takedown but Cantu shows good takedown defense.
Cantu could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

William darts in and clinches Cantu up against the cage.

William gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Cantu moves into the clinch.
William is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Cantu pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Cantu gets underhooks to prevent William's takedown attempt.
Cantu wants to get back to striking at distance but William won't allow it.

Cantu breaks from the clinch.
William is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

William rushes Cantu and presses him up against the cage.
A frustrated look appears on Cantu's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Cantu is trying to break the clinch but William is controlling him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cantu has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

William pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
William throws a combination that misses

and Cantu counters with a shoot takedown. William fights it but they end up in guard.
Cantu in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Cantu stands up from guard. Let's bang!
William looks winded!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Cantu misses with an uppercut. William saw that one coming.

Cantu clinches up with William and pushes him back against the cage.
Cantu is trying to force a seperation but William has the dominant position.
William is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Cantu to keep the fight standing.
William wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Cantu is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Cantu can't break the clinch.
William is trying to push Cantu away but Cantu has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
William tries for a takedown. No joy.
Cantu manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
William has Cantu pressed against the cage, preventing Cantu from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
William tries to pull guard but Cantu won't allow it.

William breaks from the clinch.

Cantu closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Cantu stands up and we're back to a striking position.
William looks for a takedown but Cantu sprawls well.

Cantu has William up against the cage in a clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
William tries to circle away but Cantu has him pinned against the cage.

Cantu breaks the clinch.
William fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Cantu closes the distance and clinches.

Cantu's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Cantu throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Cantu tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Despite the aggression on William's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Garth Cantu dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!



Cantu darts in and clinches William up against the cage.

Cantu breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Garth Cantu is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
William dives in for a single leg takedown but Cantu sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Cantu attempts a counter takedown but William avoids it well and moves away.
William fails with a takedown attempt.
Cantu tries to counter with a takedown but William is quick to defend against it.

William changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Cantu looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cantu holds on tight, trying to prevent any damage.

William swings around for an armbar but Cantu sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into William's guard.
William is breathing heavily.

Cantu controls from within his opponent's guard.
William looking for a sweep. Not yet William, not yet.
Cantu throwing strikes but missing.
Cantu is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that William can do to turn this around?
Cantu with a flurry of punches that miss.

Cantu decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Cantu tries to keep at a distance but William has taken the fight into the clinch.
Cantu wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Cantu connects with a nasty looking knee right to William's face.

Cantu breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

William clinches with his opponent.

Cantu manages to break the clinch.
William bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

William rushes Cantu and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Cantu breaks the clinch.
William shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Cantu drops down looking for a counter takedown but William sprawls and moves away.
Garth Cantu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jordan William.

Cantu drives through with a takedown into guard.
Cantu is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Cantu stands and steps away. William gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Jordan William seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Cantu shoots in and gets a takedown into William's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cantu lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Cantu stands up and waves to William to follow him.

Cantu closes the distance and clinches.

Cantu breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Cantu moves in looking to clinch but William pushes him off.
Cantu is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
William closes the distance and clinches up with Cantu, looking for a takedown. William pushes Cantu against the cage but Cantu circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Cantu shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Cantu was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
A lull in the action here.
Cantu cracks William with a big right hand but William just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Cantu is staying tight to William's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Cantu is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. William is trying to escape and Cantu transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and William is forced to tap! Nice work there by Cantu! Very nice indeed!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Garth Cantu!
