PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tomi Pozsar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Erwin Rommel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pozsar comes into the arena with 2 Minutes To Midnight blaring out of the sound system. Rommel has chosen stereo mcs- connected as his entrance music. The key to victory for Tomi Pozsar has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tomi Pozsar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Erwin Rommel!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Saam Ante and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pozsar fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Rommel.
Rommel looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Rommel has a takedown stuffed.
Pozsar scores with a punch to the head.
Rommel moves out of range of the body kick.

Rommel gets the takedown into side control.
Pozsar tries to escape but Rommel is in control.
Pozsar knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rommel on the ground.

Rommel is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Pozsar has escaped the position, nice work there.
Pozsar on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Pozsar tries to get out of the position.

Rommel wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Pozsar, who protects the arm well.
Pozsar tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Rommel struggling to keep hold of the position.
Can Pozsar hold on?! Rommel is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.

Rommel throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Pozsar!
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Rommel lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.

Rommel is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Pozsar has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Pozsar is trying to stand back up.
Pozsar is trapped and Rommel is scoring with shots to the head and body.

Good leg kick by Pozsar there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Rommel feints and as Pozsar raises his hands in defense, Rommel changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.


Rommel dives in for a single leg takedown but Pozsar sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the ropes.
Pozsar throws the kick towards the body but Rommel avoids it.
Pozsar slaps away a takedown attempt from Rommel, before circling back to the center of the mat.
A little feinted left hand from Pozsar on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Rommel tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Pozsar defends well and Rommel ends up having to push Pozsar into the ropes where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Tomi Pozsar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Erwin Rommel.
Rommel fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Pozsar avoids it really well and circles away.
Erwin Rommel is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Rommel moves in looking to clinch but Pozsar pushes him off.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pozsar throws a hook to the side of Rommel's head but Rommel sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Pozsar connects with a leg kick. Rommel looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Rommel dives in for a single leg takedown but Pozsar sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the ropes.
Pozsar pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Rommel is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Rommel fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Rommel on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Rommel shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Pozsar sprawls well. Pozsar wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Rommel gets slowly back to his feet.

Rommel is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Pozsar knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Pozsar is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the ropes but Rommel has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Rommel swings around for an armbar but Pozsar sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Rommel's guard.

Rommel is working an open guard so Pozsar takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Rommel swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Rommel goes for a double leg but Pozsar avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the ropes as Pozsar continues to drive forward.

Rommel closes the distance and pushes Pozsar back into the ropes.

Pozsar keeps control of Rommel as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Pozsar tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in to close the distance. Rommel manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Rommel drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Pozsar defends it well.

Pozsar is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Rommel is controlling him.
Pozsar wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Rommel manages to pass to side control.

Rommel is looking to take a break and control but Pozsar is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Rommel is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Pozsar is just riding it out for now. Rommel eventually gives up the hold.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Rommel is trying to work for a kimura but Pozsar is defending well.

Pozsar is looking to escape.

Rommel stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Rommel closes this distance looking for a takedown but Pozsar circles away.

Pozsar is looking to slow Rommel down with leg kicks.
Some bone on bone action there as Rommel checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Rommel tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Pozsar defends well and Rommel ends up having to push Pozsar into the ropes where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Rommel's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Pozsar displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Rommel.

Tomi Pozsar showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Pozsar has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Tomi Pozsar decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
