PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marcin Strzelba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dick Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Diaz is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: La La La. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Bart Greer and Peter Branson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Diaz enables Strzelba to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Diaz manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Strzelba is stalling in the full guard.
Strzelba postures up in Diaz's guard and throws a big left but Diaz blocks it.
Strzelba with a flurry of punches that miss.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Diaz escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Strzelba gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Diaz throws his legs up looking for a submission but Strzelba uses it to pass to side control.

Strzelba works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Strzelba in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Strzelba seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Diaz for as long as he can get away with.

Strzelba is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Diaz knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Diaz is trying to get back to half guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Strzelba creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Diaz sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Diaz is trying to control Strzelba's posture but Strzelba avoids it.
Diaz parries the strikes from Strzelba easily there. Strzelba is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Diaz to escape.

Strzelba stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Diaz throws a series of punches but Strzelba avoids them all with ease.
Strzelba feinted with a counter takedown.
Diaz misses with a two punch combination.

Strzelba has closed the distance and engaged Diaz in a clinch.
Strzelba content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Strzelba lands with a right to the head.

Diaz is fighting off a takedown attempt but Strzelba is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Diaz to the mat. Diaz regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Strzelba not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Strzelba really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Strzelba is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Well, if Strzelba is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Strzelba wants to free his trapped foot but Diaz is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Diaz has his feet on Strzelba's thighs here. He's pushed Strzelba off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Strzelba screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
