PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bubba Jenkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bubba Gann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gann has chosen Here Comes The Boom as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Bubba Jenkins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Bubba Gann!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Michael Johnstone and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gann shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Jenkins but Jenkins pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Jenkins misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Jenkins shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Gann defends it nicely.

Jenkins closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Gann did well to prevent Jenkins getting side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jenkins looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Gann with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Gann really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jenkins. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Jenkins has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Jenkins in particular looking to stall.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Jenkins connects with a nice short shot to Gann's temple.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Gann can do anything to dispel that myth.

Jenkins prevents Gann from improving his position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Jenkins has his takedown stuffed
and Gann counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Jenkins thinking.

Gann closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Gann lands in his opponent's guard.
Gann tries to free his leg and advance position but Jenkins is retaining full guard.
Jenkins might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Gann stands up over Jenkins, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Jenkins lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jenkins accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Gann is trying to control the position but Jenkins postures up.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bubba Jenkins dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Jenkins shoots in looking for a takedown. Gann tries to sprawl out of it but Jenkins keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Gann manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Jenkins shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Jenkins was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Bubba Jenkins overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Gann is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gann can't do much from the bottom here.
Gann on the wrong end of some ground and pound.

Gann is rocked!
Jenkins lands a big left to the face of Gann, bouncing his head like a basketball. Another shot from Jenkins and another - Gann is out! Jenkins stands up and salutes his fans, who are going crazy in the stands.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Bubba Jenkins!
Bubba Gann was interviewed post fight and said 'Im sorry i have lost tonight but i will make up for it i will get stronger and never give up'.
