PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tristan Gaines (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Igor Emanilenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Emanilenko has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Igor Emanilenko has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Tristan Gaines's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Igor Emanilenko!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gaines closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Gaines could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Gaines is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Gaines is looking for a kimura here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gaines is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Emanilenko sees it coming and defends easily.

Gaines is trying to work for a kimura but Emanilenko is defending well.
Gaines is nestled in close to Emanilenko, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Gaines seems to be working for a kimura but Emanilenko defends the submission attempt.
Gaines winds up and cracks Emanilenko with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Emanilenko is looking to control Gaines's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Emanilenko avoid being mounted?
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Gaines looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Gaines gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Emanilenko has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Gaines avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Gaines clinches up against the cage.

Gaines has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Emanilenko regains guard immediately.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Gaines drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gaines jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gaines gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Gaines throws a shot to the body.
Gaines is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Emanilenko can do to turn this around?

Gaines tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Gaines drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Gaines as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Emanilenko screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Gaines! Nice submission victory there!
