Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 18 - 0, fighting out of New York, Manfred Honeypott!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Yoshi Suzuki!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Columbo Gatti and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Suzuki with a lazy takedown attempt
and Honeypott counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Suzuki shoots for a double leg takedown but Honeypott sprawls well. He's pushed Suzuki's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Suzuki shoots in looking for a takedown. Honeypott tries to sprawl out of it but Suzuki keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Honeypott manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Manfred Honeypott has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yoshi Suzuki.
Honeypott lands with a right hand.
Honeypott throws a one two combo.
Honeypott defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Suzuki.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Suzuki looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Honeypott appears to be looking for a big counter.
Suzuki will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Honeypott lunges at Suzuki with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Suzuki's hand.
Honeypott cracks Suzuki with an open hand slap.

Suzuki tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Honeypott swivels and escapes.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Suzuki is defended easily by Honeypott.
Manfred Honeypott is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Nice body punch from Honeypott.
Honeypott scores with a shot to the body.
Honeypott fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Suzuki on the side of the head.
Honeypott misses with a double jab.
Suzuki tries for a takedown but Honeypott sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Honeypott swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.

Suzuki closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Honeypott to the mat! Honeypott manages to get full guard.
Suzuki sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Honeypott's guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Suzuki drops an elbow to the side of Honeypott's head.
Suzuki passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Honeypott!
Honeypott looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Suzuki lands a nice shot to the head.
Honeypott wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Suzuki.

Suzuki working for a submission but Honeypott is keeping him at bay.

It looks like Manfred Honeypott has been cut.
Suzuki has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Suzuki throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Suzuki lands a big shot there that rocks Honeypott but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Manfred Honeypott's cut is getting worse.
Oooooh, big shot lands for Suzuki! Honeypott is hurt baaadly! Suzuki is firing away with more strikes - Honeypott is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Yoshi Suzuki!

A less than humble Yoshi Suzuki misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
