PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Bellator (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and El Senor Rookie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Bellator might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to A Lesson Never Learned. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Frank Bellator!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, El Senor Rookie!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rookie checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
A jab lands there for Bellator.
Rookie stuffs the takedown.
Rookie moves out of range as Bellator strikes.
Rookie tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Bellator manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
A little feinted left hand from Bellator on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Good standup being displayed there by Bellator as he connects with a hook.
Bellator connects with a jab.
Rookie tries to clinch up.
Bellator throws a shot to the body.
Rookie moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Bellator throws out a powerful jab.
Bellator checks the leg kick nicely there.
Bellator throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Rookie sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Bellator throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Bellator lands a nice looking body shot.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Bellator swats away the attempt to clinch by Rookie.

Rookie fails in his attempt to clinch.

Bellator throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Rookie tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Bellator is in Rookie's guard.
Rookie avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Bellator is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Bellator has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bellator accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Bellator is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bellator trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Bellator loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Bellator's jab looks to have found its range, popping Rookie under the eye.


It looks like El Senor Rookie has been cut.
A head kick misses from Rookie.
Bellator changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Bellator closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rookie circles away.
Rookie tries to close the distance and clinch but Bellator swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Bellator just misses with a punch to the body.
El Senor Rookie is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Bellator misses with a hook. Rookie ducked under it nicely.
Bellator ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Bellator scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Bellator content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Bellator has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Bellator is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Rookie has managed to free his arm - good work.

Bellator working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Bellator has control of an arm but Rookie manages to advance to Bellator's back!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bellator rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Rookie tries to stand and escape but Bellator actually recovers to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rookie walks into a straight right hand from Bellator.
The fighters circling - Bellator throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Bellator closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Rookie's guard.
Bellator postures up in Rookie's guard and throws a big left but Rookie blocks it.
Rookie preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Bellator is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Bellator prevents Rookie from getting back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Bellator throws a big elbow that misses.

Bellator drops down looking for a counter takedown but Rookie sprawls and moves away.
Bellator blocks a head kick by Rookie.
Rookie tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Bellator manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Rookie with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Bellator to score with a decent uppercut.


El Senor Rookie's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

Bellator shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Bellator was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Bellator looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Rookie is avoiding damage well.
Rookie really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bellator. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Rookie is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Bellator is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Rookie is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Bellator creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Rookie sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Bellator postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Bellator seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Rookie for as long as he can get away with.

Rookie tries to clinch up but Bellator circles away and keeps his distance.
Bellator shoots in looking for a takedown. Rookie tries to sprawl out of it but Bellator keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Rookie manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Bellator is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Rookie tries to clinch but Bellator is having none of it.

Bellator attempts a counter takedown but Rookie avoids it well and moves away.
Rookie fails in his attempt to clinch.

Frank Bellator bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
