And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kenneth Velasco!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Luis Engracia and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Erickson looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Velasco shoots in for a double leg but Erickson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Velasco closes the distance and clinches.

Erickson wants the takedown. Velasco is fighting it off but Erickson persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Velasco's guard against the cage.
Erickson throws a big elbow that misses.

Velasco escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Erickson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Erickson throws a big right hand that misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Erickson wants to stand and escape but instead Velasco has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Erickson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Erickson has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Velasco is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Velasco has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Erickson after a bit of a struggle.
Velasco tries to score a body lock takedown but Erickson shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Erickson has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Velasco has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Velasco is working for takedown but Erickson is calmly controlling the position for now.

Erickson has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Velasco off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Velasco slips a straight right by Erickson.
Velasco looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Erickson displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Velasco.

Velasco fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Erickson avoids it really well and circles away.

Erickson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Velasco knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Velasco drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Velasco jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Velasco must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Erickson has his feet on Velasco's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Velasco shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Erickson sprawls well. Erickson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Velasco gets slowly back to his feet.

Erickson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Velasco is just riding it out for now. Erickson eventually gives up the hold.

Erickson is trying to trip Velasco. He has hold of a leg but Velasco is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Erickson persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
