Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, George Baba!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dale McCann!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Stewart Dunkirk and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCann throws a shot from downtown. Baba moves away and avoids it.
Baba keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from McCann.
McCann lands a nice shot to the body.
McCann scores with a one two! Baba had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.


It looks like George Baba has been cut.
McCann blocks a low kick nicely.
Decent striking displayed by McCann there.
Baba moves out of range of the strikes.
Baba half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
McCann misses with a jab, cross combination.

and Baba counters with a single leg into guard. McCann didn't expect that.
We've been hearing that Baba has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
McCann can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Baba controls the pace.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Baba accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Baba stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. McCann swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Baba trying to control the position from guard on top but McCann is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
McCann wants to stand but Baba is controlling the position.
Baba working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
McCann has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Montreal's Finest. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
McCann wants to get back to his feet but Baba is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Baba closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Baba tries to pull guard but McCann forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Baba is trying to trip McCann. He has hold of a leg but McCann is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Baba persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McCann keeping full guard, as Baba tries to pass.

McCann wants to stand and escape but Baba is having none of it.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

McCann misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Baba.
McCann moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
McCann checks a leg kick nicely.
McCann looks to land a left hand but Baba moved out of range nicely.
Baba slips under a jab from McCann.
McCann scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Baba doesn't seem bothered though.
Baba misses with a low kick.
McCann throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
McCann scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
McCann keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Baba swats away the attempt to clinch by McCann.
McCann connects with a body shot that sends Baba's belly button to the back.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Baba throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Baba tries for a takedown but McCann circles away easily
and McCann connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.


George Baba's cut is getting worse.
Baba connects with a right hand. McCann shakes it off.
Baba tries to clinch there but McCann circles away.
Baba takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Baba throws a head kick that misses.
McCann cracks Baba with a right hand to the side of the head.

Baba moves into the clinch successfully.
McCann lands with a light punch inside.
Baba looking for a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for George Baba. That's going to take a lot out of him.
McCann lands a left hand that snaps the head of Baba backwards.
Baba takes a shot to the head.
McCann pushes Baba back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dale McCann dominated that round.
The cut man is working on George Baba's cut.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

McCann is looking for the big counter here.
McCann has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

McCann closes the distance and clinches.
Baba is trying to drag McCann to the mat but McCann just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
A left hand lands to the body for Baba.
A nice right hand lands inside from McCann.
Baba drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
McCann using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Baba trying to stall but McCann improves his position.
Baba tries to pull guard but McCann holds him up against the cage and eventually Baba drops back down to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for George Baba. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Baba has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. McCann is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Baba tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

McCann lands a nice uppercut.
Baba takes a shot to the head.


George Baba's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
McCann makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.


Baba is rocked!
McCann utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.
Oh Baba is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
McCann unloads a knee to the mid-section. Baba lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
McCann throws a big uppercut that drops Baba! More strikes from McCann and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Baba lies dazed against the cage as McCann celebrates with his cornermen!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dale McCann!
A very excited looking Dale McCann made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
