Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Leigh Ellison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Mace (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 1, fighting out of New York, Leigh Ellison!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marcus Mace!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Columbo Gatti and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ellison tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Mace defends well and Ellison ends up having to push Mace into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Ellison sets himself, and Mace steps forward looking for the clinch! Ellison avoids it this time.

Mace looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Ellison trying to control here.
Mace not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Mace looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mace seems to be trying to get a kimura but instead Ellison has recovered full guard.
Mace really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ellison. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Mace postures up.

Mace looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Ellison shoots in but no luck this time.

Ellison gets tackled into the cage by Mace. Mace maintains the clinch.

Mace decides to pull guard.

Ellison stopping the sweep attempt from Mace.

Mace is looking to sweep but instead, Ellison has passed into half guard.

Ellison is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Mace defends it well.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mace can do anything to dispel that myth.
Ellison throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Ellison not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Ellison moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Mace.
Mace looks to move to half guard but instead Ellison has passed into mount! Damn!
Ellison could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Ellison goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Mace turns into him and now he's in Ellison's guard.

Mace looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Mace wants to stand and escape but instead Ellison has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Ellison might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Ellison is working Mace over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marcus Mace dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Mace closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Mace has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Ellison taking punishment in the form of punches.
Ellison is trying to control Mace's posture but Mace avoids it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mace goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Ellison has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Mace but great work by Ellison.

Ellison wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Mace, who protects the arm well.
Ellison gets to mount! Mace was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Mace sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

Ellison seems to be looking for submissions.
Marcus Mace has got the better of the ground game so far.

Mace is defending against the submission attempts here by Ellison.
Mace controlling the position well.

Ellison is looking for a kimura but Mace is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Ellison to get the leverage.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Mace tries to roll over but Ellison keeps him under control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ellison is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Mace doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Ellison.
Mace wants to get back to full guard but Ellison has passed into side control.

Mace is trying to buck Ellison off.
Mace regains half guard.

Ellison is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Mace doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Ellison.
Mace tries to get to full guard but Ellison has control of the leg.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Ellison is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Ellison shoots in for a takedown but Mace shows good takedown defense.
Mace looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Ellison throws a head kick but Mace moves out of range.
Ellison checks the leg kick.
Mace blocks a head kick by Ellison.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Leigh Ellison will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Ellison wants a takedown but no success here.
Ellison is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Mace is defending well.

Ellison lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Mace trying to control but Ellison postures up.

Ellison is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Mace has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Ellison is working for a guillotine from mount but Mace frees his head quite easily.
Mace gets back to half guard.

Mace tries to kick Ellison off in order to stand up. Ellison Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Mace is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Ellison tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Ellison looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Mace tries to bench press Ellison off him but Ellison keeps the position.

Ellison is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Mace knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Mace is wriggling around trying to escape but Ellison has hooked up a rear naked choke! Is it over??? Is it... you're damn right it is! Mace taps out and Ellison picks up the big win! Great work there by Ellison!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:10 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Leigh Ellison!
