PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jacob Cabrera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kyle Dake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jacob Cabrera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kyle Dake!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Franklyn Lucas and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dake drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Dake trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Cabrera wants to stand but Dake is controlling the position.
Cabrera will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Cabrera trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Dake trying to control but Cabrera is working from the bottom.
Cabrera trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Dake trying to control the position from guard on top but Cabrera is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Cabrera really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Cabrera wants to stand but Dake is controlling the position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dake looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Cabrera!
Cabrera tries to buck Dake off but Dake is having none of it.

Cabrera tries to escape but Dake is in control.
Dake working the ground and pound.

Dake is trying to get an arm triangle but Cabrera is defending well.
Dake trying to control the action but Cabrera is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cabrera tries to buck Dake off but Dake is having none of it.

Dake tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Cabrera gets back to half guard.

Dake thows a huge punch but Cabrera dodges it nicely.
Dake wants to control but Cabrera is keeping him busy.
Cabrera is trying to stand back up but Dake is controlling him
Dake is trying to control the action in half guard but Cabrera is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Cabrera is trying to stand.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Dake shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Dake missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

Cabrera misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Cabrera tries to kick Dake off but Dake keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Dake is trying to control the action in half guard but Cabrera is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Cabrera is trying to stand back up but Dake is controlling him

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Dake drives through with a takedown into guard.
Dake trying to control the position from guard on top but Cabrera is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Cabrera has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Dake off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Dake decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Dake looks winded!

Dake landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Cabrera wants to improve his position but Dake is controlling well.
Cabrera manages to get to full guard.
Cabrera is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Dake trying to control the position from guard on top but Cabrera is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kyle Dake dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Cabrera darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Dake is trying to get back to full guard.
Dake is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dake is doing well to control the position and prevent Cabrera from advancing to side control.
Cabrera is thwarting Dake's attempts to control the position.

Cabrera is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Dake gets full guard.

Cabrera is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Dake is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Dake has escaped and now he's on top!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Cabrera looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Dake stays in close to Cabrera's body and controls the position.
Dake stands and throws Cabrera's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cabrera can't do much from the bottom here.
Cabrera is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dake cracks Cabrera with a big elbow.
Dake wants to control but Cabrera is keeping him busy.
Dake has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Dake tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Dake has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Dake wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Cabrera, who protects the arm well.
Cabrera is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Cabrera wants to control but Dake postures up.
Cabrera tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
Cabrera trying to control the hands but Dake breaks the grip.
Cabrera is trying to stand back up.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kyle Dake showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Dake slaps away a takedown attempt from Cabrera, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Dake gets caught flat footed, as Cabrera shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Dake controlling the position.
Cabrera prevents Dake from getting back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dake controls Cabrera momentarily but Cabrera frees himself.
Cabrera slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Dake.

Dake is looking to get back to full guard here but Cabrera has managed to pass to side control instead.
Dake tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Cabrera presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Dake wants to hold on but Cabrera pushes him away.
Cabrera manages to capitalize on a mistake by Dake to take his back!

Cabrera has the hooks in. Dake is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Cabrera controls the action.
Dake can't escape the position.
Dake keeps trying to improve his position.
Kyle Dake has got the better of the ground game so far.

Dake is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Dake just trying to survive but Cabrera is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
Dake takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
I would not like to be Dake right now.
Dake tries to escape the position.
Cabrera is riding his opponent, not letting Dake buck him off.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Dake wants to get back to his feet.
Dake trying to control the position but Cabrera manages to sink in the hooks.
Cabrera controls the position.
Dake is trying to stand back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Cabrera gets his hands free as Dake looks to control.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jacob Cabrera showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Dake has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
