Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jorge Cristobal!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alex McUshin!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Valeri Chadov and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cristobal shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says McUshin as he avoids it easily.

McUshin gets a clinch.
Our sources have told us that Cristobal has been working on his knees in the buildup to the fight.
McUshin gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Cristobal.

McUshin has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Cristobal is trying to keep an underhook but McUshin manages to get the takedown into half guard.
McUshin tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Cristobal.
Cristobal tries to roll over but McUshin keeps him under control.
Cristobal slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cristobal lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Cristobal works a leg free and moves into half guard.
McUshin keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Cristobal is trying to control. McUshin wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Cristobal working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Cristobal drops an elbow to the side of McUshin's head.

McUshin is refusing to be controlled, as Cristobal sits in half guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Cristobal is looking to pass McUshin's guard but actually McUshin recovers to full guard.

McUshin's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
McUshin tries to close the distance and clinch but Cristobal swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

McUshin shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Cristobal manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Cristobal is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
McUshin throws a strike but Cristobal rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

McUshin wants to stand and escape but Cristobal is having none of it.

Cristobal slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Cristobal stands up and waves to McUshin to follow him.

McUshin decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

McUshin wants to stand up but Cristobal manages to regain full guard.

Cristobal pushes McUshin off and scrambles back to his feet.
Cristobal shoots for a double leg takedown but McUshin sprawls well. He's pushed Cristobal's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Cristobal moves into range and connects with a jab.
We've been informed that McUshin has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Cristobal is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that McUshin can do to turn this around?

McUshin breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

McUshin fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Cristobal sprawls well initially but McUshin persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Cristobal has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. McUshin is working away from the top position though.
Cristobal is pressing down on McUshin's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Cristobal has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Cristobal tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but McUshin defends well and Cristobal ends up having to push McUshin into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
McUshin shoots for a takedown but Cristobal saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Cristobal fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but McUshin avoids it really well and circles away.

McUshin wants to take the fight to the mat but Cristobal manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Cristobal is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. McUshin is defending well for now.

McUshin has Cristobal pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. McUshin pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Cristobal tumbling to the mat - McUshin dives into Cristobal's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
McUshin wants to get up but he can't break Cristobal's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jorge Cristobal will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

I would just about give that final round to Alex McUshin.
