Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Craig Regan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Helen Davies!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Luis Engracia and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Regan drives through and clinches with Davies against the cage.
Davies fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Regan is trying to stall.

Regan breaks from the clinch.
Regan closes the distance and clinches up with Davies, looking for a takedown. Regan pushes Davies against the cage but Davies circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Regan scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Helen Davies seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Regan has taken the fight to the clinch.

Regan breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Davies has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Regan has passed into side control.

Regan really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Davies might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Regan kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Davies has his foot on Regan's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Regan works his way back into a safe position though.

Regan can't break the clinch.
Regan just leaning against Davies, taking a breather.
Davies tries to pull guard but Regan won't allow it.
Craig Regan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Helen Davies.
Regan works on Davies's body with a couple of short punches.

Davies had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Regan is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Davies Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Regan's back instead.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Davies works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Regan working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Davies doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Davies manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Davies sneaks out the side door and pushes Regan away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Davies is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Davies stands up and beckons Regan to join him on the feet.

Regan feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Davies wants to stand and escape but Regan is having none of it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee asks Regan politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Regan prefers to stall for the moment though.

Davies jumps guard but Regan stands there with Davies around his waist. Davies gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Regan tries to land knees in the clinch but Davies avoids the damage to the body.

Davies ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Davies no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Davies escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Regan gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Regan stands up over Davies, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Regan wants to pass the guard but Davies is keeping the position.

Davies is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Regan has his hands clasped together but Davies extends an breaks Regan's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Davies.
