Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between David Charles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Putra Rajasa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Putra Rajasa has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with David Charles's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, David Charles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Putra Rajasa!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Francis DeMontford and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Charles tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Rajasa looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Rajasa closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Rajasa lands in his opponent's guard.
Rajasa trying to control the position from guard on top but Charles is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Rajasa is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Rajasa throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Rajasa throws a lazy right hand but Charles sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Charles forces Rajasa back against the cage and clinches.

Charles gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Charles's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Charles is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Charles looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Rajasa with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Charles takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Charles working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Charles connects with a nice short shot to Rajasa's temple.
Charles really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Rajasa is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Charles perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Charles enables Rajasa to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Charles manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Charles pushes Rajasa off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Charles manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Rajasa on his heels. He'll look to pass Rajasa's guard now, I'm sure.
Our spies down at at Cozad MMA Sydney inform us that Rajasa has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Charles accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Charles closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Rajasa to the mat! Rajasa manages to get full guard.

Charles tries for a takedown but Rajasa sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Charles looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Charles lands a head kick. Rajasa smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Charles misses with a wild body shot.
Rajasa lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Charles lands with a kick to the temple. Rajasa shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Rajasa throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Charles tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Rajasa is in Charles's guard.
Charles has his hands on Rajasa's head, controlling the position.
Rajasa is looking to stand up but Charles won't let him.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Charles bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Rajasa's guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Charles cracks Rajasa with a solid left hand.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Charles closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Rajasa quickly recovers to half guard.
