The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Overeem darts in and clinches De Villefort up against the cage.
Overeem missing with knees to the body.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by De Villefort as Overeem tries to tie him up.
Overeem wants to stall.
De Villefort is trying to stall.
Overeem tries to score a body lock takedown but De Villefort shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
De Villefort has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Overeem is trying to keep an underhook but De Villefort manages to get the takedown into half guard.
De Villefort winds up and cracks Overeem with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
De Villefort slips a nice elbow through Overeem's hands, connecting with Overeem's forehead.
Overeem is trying to stand back up but De Villefort is controlling him
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
De Villefort works his way into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Overeem is working to avoid the ground and pound but De Villefort connects with a decent elbow.
De Villefort has hold of Overeem's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Overeem seems comfortable defending it but De Villefort has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Overeem is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Overeem is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but De Villefort couldn't care less - he's delighted!
