The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Snijder is defended easily by Thiago.
Snijder steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Thiago.
Thiago tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Snijder was well out of range. Poor timing from Thiago.
Snijder changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Snijder blocks the body kick.
Snijder takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Snijder throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Thiago swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Snijder attempts a counter takedown but Thiago avoids it well and moves away.
Jorge Thiago seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Snijder counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Snijder wants to work for an arm triangle but Thiago is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Snijder in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Thiago tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Snijder!
