Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Van Kelly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ronan Yamokivic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Van Kelly!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ronan Yamokivic!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Frank Dennis and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yamokivic throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Kelly fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Yamokivic unleashes a big counter combination but Kelly bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Yamokivic throws a series of punches but Kelly moves out of range.
Kelly tries to counter with a takedown but Yamokivic is quick to defend against it.
Yamokivic tries to bum rush Kelly with a series of wild strikes but Kelly uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Yamokivic buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Yamokivic, as that shot connected.
Yamokivic throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Kelly tries to counter by clinching up but Yamokivic breaks away and moves out of range.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Yamokivic misses with a low kick as Kelly jumps back.
Ronan Yamokivic seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kelly has his takedown stuffed
and Yamokivic counters with a nice uppercut.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Van Kelly. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Yamokivic pivots, looking for a leg kick but Kelly is out of range and Yamokivic settles back down.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Kelly.
Yamokivic looks like he wants to counter punch here.
We've been informed that Yamokivic has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Kelly shoots in looking for a takedown but Yamokivic manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kelly's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Kelly has managed to clinch.
Yamokivic looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Kelly changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Yamokivic fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Yamokivic scores with a sloppy right hand. Kelly should have avoided that one.
Yamokivic misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Yamokivic looks to score with a jab to the body but Kelly is just out of range.
Yamokivic tests Kelly's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Yamokivic throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Kelly shoots for a double leg takedown but Yamokivic sprawls well. He's pushed Kelly's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Yamokivic misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Kelly.
Yamokivic slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Yamokivic pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Kelly back to the cage. Yamokivic follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

and Yamokivic connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Yamokivic feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Kellys jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Yamokivic throws out a powerful jab.
A nice inside leg kick there by Yamokivic. That's going to slow Kelly down.

Kelly avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Yamokivic ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kelly moves away.
Kelly is looking to counter the offense by Yamokivic and move into the clinch.
A bone on bone clash there as Kelly blocks the leg kick.
Yamokivic thows a left - swing and a miss!

Kelly closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kelly lands in his opponent's guard.

Kelly is looking to work some ground and pound but Yamokivic has wrist control.

We've been hearing good reports from Kelly's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kelly throws a big right hand that misses.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kelly is looking to work some ground and pound but Yamokivic has wrist control.
Kelly throws a strike but Yamokivic rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.


Kelly working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Yamokivic doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Yamokivic manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Kelly had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Yamokivic defends it easily.

Kelly is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Yamokivic has his hands clasped together but Kelly extends and breaks Yamokivic's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Kelly.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Van Kelly!
A very excited looking Van Kelly made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
