Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Marion Stein (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenneth Velasco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marion Stein!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kenneth Velasco!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Emerson Jorge and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Stein enables Velasco to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Stein manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Stein wants to stand up but Velasco is controlling him.
Velasco stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Stein swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Velasco drops back, looking for a kneebar! Stein looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Stein looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Stein!

Stein scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Velasco to see if he's OK.

Stein stands up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Velasco decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stein has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Velasco is working away from the top position though.

Velasco is looking for a kimura but Stein is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Velasco to get the leverage.
Stein is trying to control but can't.

Stein makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Velasco looking to score a takedown here. Stein is defending well but Velasco drives through and ends up in Stein's guard.

Stein is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Velasco is aware though and is defending well.
Stein is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Stein looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Velasco trying to control but Stein is working from the bottom.

Velasco postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Stein is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Velasco, into his guard.

Stein controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Stein landing with the ground and pound.

Stein stays in close to Velasco's body and controls the position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Velasco keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Stein shoots in for a takedown but Velasco shows good takedown defense.
Stein sets himself, and Velasco steps forward looking for the clinch! Stein avoids it this time.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Velasco darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Velasco seems to be looking for submissions.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Kenneth Velasco will probably get the nod.

Stein moves into the clinch successfully.

Velasco has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Stein is trying to keep an underhook but Velasco manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Stein manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Velasco shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Velasco showed some decent athleticism there.
Stein keeping hold of Velasco's head, controlling as best he can.

Velasco looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Stein manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Velasco rushes Stein and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Stein manages to break the clinch.

Velasco drives through with a takedown into Stein's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Kenneth Velasco has got the better of the ground game so far.

Stein kicks Velasco off and gets to his feet.
Stein tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Velasco is breathing heavily.

Velasco tries to keep at a distance but Stein has taken the fight into the clinch.

Velasco lands a takedown into guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Stein manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Velasco avoids a kick to the body.

Velasco looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Stein!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stein is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Velasco is controlling him well.
Stein manages to work his way to half guard, despite Velasco's best efforts.

Stein has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Velasco is on him like a limpet, forcing Stein back against the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Stein stalling the fight.
Stein wants a takedown but no success here.

Stein escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Velasco darts in and clinches Stein up against the cage.

Stein manages to break the clinch.

Velasco changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Stein looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Stein wants to control but Velasco postures up.
Stein is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Velasco asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Stein wants to control but Velasco postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Stein is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Velasco is controlling him well.

Stein throws Velasco to one side and escapes!
Stein fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Velasco feints a counter leg kick.
Stein shoots in but Velasco avoids the takedown attempt easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marion Stein dominated that second round.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


A head kick misses from Stein.
Velasco changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Velasco leaves Stein with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Velasco closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Stein did well to prevent Velasco getting side control.

You can see the frustration on Stein's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Stein is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Velasco has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Velasco wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Stein, who protects the arm well.
Stein is trying to control Velasco's posture but Velasco avoids it.

Velasco swings around for an armbar but Stein sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Velasco's guard.
Velasco takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Stein trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Stein sitting in guard, not really doing much.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Velasco avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Velasco can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Stein controls the pace.

Stein stands and steps away. Velasco gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Stein drives through and clinches with Velasco against the cage.

Velasco gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Stein regains guard.
Stein lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Stein is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Stein stands up from Velasco's guard - Stein perhaps looking for a knockout.
Stein will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A solid leg kick lands there for Stein.

Stein clinches up with Velasco and pushes him back against the cage.

Stein pulls guard successfully.

Stein throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Velasco is fighting to break Stein's control of his arms but Stein is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Stein looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Stein lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


And that's the end of the fight!
Marion Stein showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Stein has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
