Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, John Mangel and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gibson shoots in for a double leg but Lavy sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Lavy is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Gibson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Lavy rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gibson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Gibson shoots for a double leg takedown but Lavy sprawls well. He's pushed Gibson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Dextor Lavy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Gibson.

Gibson drops back, looking for a kneebar! Lavy looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Lavy looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Lavy!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gibson throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land.
Gibson is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Lavy off and has taken his back!

Gibson is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Lavy is defending well though. Gibson let's go of the attempt for now.

Gibson is not going to allow Lavy to sit and survive in this position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gibson drops back looking for a leg! Lavy is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Lavy manages to kick Gibson off! Gibson jumps back into Lavy's guard.

Gibson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gibson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Gibson passes Lavy's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Lavy is in trouble now - Gibson has advanced to mount!

Lavy defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Gibson.
Lavy is looking to improve his position but Gibson isn't that keen on the idea.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Gibson goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Lavy turns into him and now he's in Gibson's guard.

Gibson is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Lavy is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
