Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Im Hwoarang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brinkley Stanton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hwoarang comes into the arena with Pain - Shut your mouth blaring out of the sound system. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stanton tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hwoarang swivels and escapes.
Hwoarang tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Stanton paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Hwoarang tries a head kick but it misses.
Im Hwoarang seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Stanton fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

Stanton shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Stanton thows a huge punch but Hwoarang dodges it nicely.
Hwoarang wants to get back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Stanton is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Hwoarang's half guard.
Hwoarang is staying active underneath Stanton, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Stanton is looking to take a break and control but Hwoarang is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Stanton has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Horrible takedown attempt by Stanton or perhaps it was just good defense by Hwoarang, which made it look bad.

Hwoarang lands with a kick to the temple. Stanton shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Stanton closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Hwoarang to the mat! Hwoarang manages to get full guard.
Stanton wants to get up but he can't break Hwoarang's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Stanton thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Stanton tries to stand but Hwoarang is controlling from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Hwoarang misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Stanton changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hwoarang looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
