The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bale defends well against a solid takedown attempt from McStravick.
McStravick scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
McStravick is figuring out what he wants to do next.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McStravick seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

McStravick passes Bale's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
McStravick looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
McStravick is taking a breather. Bale says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Bale knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for McStravick on the ground.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
McStravick escapes and gets back to his feet.
Bale throws a sloppy head kick and McStravick moves out of range easily.
Bale tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Bale tries to keep at a distance but McStravick has taken the fight into the clinch.
McStravick has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Bale clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Bale throws a head kick but McStravick moves out of range.
McStravick with the counter takedown but Bale avoids it easily.
McStravick clinches with his opponent.

Hwoarang Bale seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McStravick blocks a head kick by Bale.
Bale goes for a double leg but McStravick avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as McStravick continues to drive forward.

McStravick in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Bale tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from McStravick!
