Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Shamar Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tristin Shonuck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackson kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Freak on a Leash. Shonuck is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Johnny Cash - God's Gonna Cut You Down. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Shamar Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tristin Shonuck!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Gregory Folan and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson throws a hook but Shonuck avoids it easily.
Jackson has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Shonuck throws a leg kick but Jackson sees it coming and moves out of range.
Shonuck doesn't manage to clinch there - Jackson circles away.
Shonuck buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Shamar Jackson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jackson shoots in looking for a takedown but Shonuck manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Jackson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

and Shonuck counters with a three punch combo that has Jackson backing up. Jackson nods at Shonuck to acknowledge the strikes.

Jackson throws an elbow that misses. Shonuck uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Jackson's guard. Nice move by Shonuck!


Jackson isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Shonuck stacks Jackson on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Shonuck!

Shonuck tries to advance to mount but Jackson denies him.

A close round but Tristin Shonuck will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Shonuck lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Jackson circles away quickly and effectively.
Jackson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Jackson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Shonuck sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jackson somewhat.

Shonuck cracks Jackson with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Jackson throws a leg kick that misses.
Shonuck feints and then cracks Jackson's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Jackson down.

and Shonuck counters with a crisp one two that drops Jackson! Shonuck thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Jackson to his feet! Jackson is in big trouble!

Shonuck throws a front kick that sends Jackson stumbling back into the cage.
Oh Jackson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Jackson throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Shonuck.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Shonuck cracks Jackson with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Shonuck has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Jackson to stand back up!

Shonuck drops Jackson with a big knee straight up the middle! Jackson is covering up against the cage but manages to escape and gets back to his feet!


It looks like Shamar Jackson has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Jackson is aggressively charging in as Shonuck backs up avoiding any damage. Shonuck tosses out a jab and Jackson runs right into it face first! Jackson is out cold! Shonuck dropped down on all fours and is barking in Jackson's face like a pit bull in celebration until the ref was finally able to pull him away!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Tristin Shonuck!
Tristin Shonuck looked relieved post fight as he said the following; 'This was my 34th pro fight and every win is satisfying. Props to HODOR, he is a very tough young fighter and has a great future ahead of him. Hopefully this win is a stepping stone towards bigger and better things!'.
