The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spartan scores with a spinning back kick!

Spartan fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Martell, pushing him back against the cage.

Spartan breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Spartan shoots in and gets a takedown into Martell's guard.

Spartan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Martell. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Martell wants to control but Spartan is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Spartan seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Spartan works his way into side control.
Martell is not content to let Spartan control the position.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Martell throws a body punch but Spartan moves out of range.

Spartan shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Martell's guard.
Spartan wants to control from the top but Martell keeps moving.

Spartan has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Martell to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Spartan is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Martell pulls down on the head and he's put Spartan to sleep! This one is all over!
