Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Professor F (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Sims (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Professor F!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Sims!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Alan Glass and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
F throws a looping overhand right but Sims ducks down to avoid it.
F shoots in looking for a takedown. Sims tries to sprawl out of it but F keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sims manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
F throws a big shot that misses.
F throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Sims sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Sims tries to clinch but F moves out of range.
Sims moves out of range as F strikes.

F gets caught flat footed, as Sims shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Sims won't allow F to sweep him here.
F is working hard here to advance position.
Sims stays in close to F's body and controls the position.
F is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sims controlling from the top position.
Sims is fighting to break F's control of his arms but F is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Sims wants to control from the top but F keeps moving.
F wants to sweep but no luck.
F utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
F looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Sims puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
F wants to control but Sims is keeping busy and won't allow it.
F tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Sims misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Sims moves away from the strike by F.
Sims throws a shot from downtown. F moves away and avoids it.
F misses with a hook. Sims ducked under it nicely.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
F throws the left hand but Sims avoids the punch easily.
F swats away the attempt to clinch by Sims.

Excellent takedown into side control there by F.
Sims prevents F from moving into mount.
Sims tries to control but F manages to take his back.
F has good solid back control here.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Sims is trying to break free.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Professor F will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Nice straight punches there by F. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of F.


It looks like Mark Sims has been cut.
Sims walks into a jab.
F looks to score with a jab to the body but Sims is just out of range.
Sims scores with a jab to the head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
F lands a head shot.
Sims shoots in for a double leg but F sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Sims throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
F misses with a hook. Sims ducked under it nicely.

Sims lands a jab to the head.
F throws a jab when Sims was well out of range.
Jab, jab by F - just one landing.

F scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Sims is not content to let F control the position.
You can see the frustration on Sims's face as F controls the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sims throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Sims is working to avoid the ground and pound but F connects with a decent elbow.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Sims is being controlled here.
Sims can't do much from the bottom here.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sims can do anything to dispel that myth.
F moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sims throwing some weak shots from the bottom that do no damage.
F working away.
Sims is letting F control him for a moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
F trying to control the action but Sims is working from the bottom.
The referee asks F politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. F prefers to stall for the moment though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Professor F dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on Mark Sims's cut.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Sims slips under a jab from F.
F misses with a hook.
Professor F seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
F takes a swing at Sims's ribcage but misses.
Sims looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Sims tries a head kick but it misses.

Sims closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
F desperately trying to maintain half guard.
F is looking to control Sims's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can F avoid being mounted?

That's one minute gone in the round.
The fighters are battling for position here. F manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
F wants to control the position but Sims says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Professor F just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Sims with a hook.
Sims tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but F swivels and escapes.
F changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Sims tries to avoid it but F manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Sims to the ground. Sims escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Sims slips a jab from F.
F is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
A telegraphed right hand from F misses the target.

Sims drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Sims won't allow F to sweep him here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
F is trying to control the position but Sims postures up.
Sims throws and elbow that misses. F uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Sims's guard. Nice move by F!
F seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
F trying to control but Sims is working from the bottom.
Professor F is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sims wants to stand and escape but F is having none of it.
F is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
F won't allow Sims to sweep him here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
F slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Sims looking for a sweep. Not yet Sims, not yet.
Mark Sims has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
F pushes down on Sims's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Sims tries to roll over but F keeps him under control.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mark Sims comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well F has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
