PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Noah Puckerman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Con Waterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Waterson has chosen Oasis - Roll With It as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 34 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Noah Puckerman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Con Waterson!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Gregory Folan and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Waterson throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Puckerman is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Puckerman is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Waterson.


It looks like Noah Puckerman has been cut.
Puckerman throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Waterson counters with a thumping low kick.
Waterson throws a predictable looking body shot
and Puckerman connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Puckerman is looking to clinch.
Waterson turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Puckerman fails in his attempt to clinch.
Puckerman lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Waterson at a distance.
Waterson dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Nice uppercut lands for Puckerman. That snapped Waterson's head back.
Waterson scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Waterson lands with a kick to the ribs.
Puckerman ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Waterson moves away.
Waterson lets loose with a powerful body kick. Puckerman will feel that in the morning.
Puckerman wants to clinch up but Waterson keeps it at a distance.

Waterson connects with a single shot there.
The fighters circling - Waterson throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Waterson scores with a sloppy right hand. Puckerman should have avoided that one.
Waterson throws a lazy right hand but Puckerman sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Waterson throws a right and a left that both miss.
Waterson connects with a body shot that sends Puckerman's belly button to the back.
A punch combination from Waterson misses.
Puckerman bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Waterson's head backwards.
Puckerman is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Waterson.
Waterson tries a quick counter leg kick but Puckerman is wise to it.
Puckerman swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Puckerman misses with a body shot.
Waterson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Puckerman moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Puckerman was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Waterson scores with a nice right hand.
Con Waterson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Waterson connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

Puckerman is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Waterson.
Waterson misses with a body kick.
Waterson scores with a punch to the head.
A swing and a miss from Puckerman.
Puckerman thuds a left hand into Waterson's body.
Puckerman throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Waterson looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Waterson lands with a hook. Puckerman tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Waterson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Puckerman circles away quickly and effectively.
Waterson throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Puckerman lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Puckerman avoids a punch combination nicely.
Puckerman scores with a jab to the head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Puckerman tries to clinch up.
Waterson waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Puckerman.
A little feinted left hand from Puckerman on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Waterson throws a body shot but no joy.
Puckerman checks a leg kick nicely.
Waterson steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Puckerman.
Puckerman takes a swing at Waterson's ribcage but misses.
A slapping body kick lands there for Waterson.
Waterson uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Puckerman.
Puckerman displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Waterson throws out the jab.
Puckerman swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
A telegraphed right hand from Waterson misses the target.
A little feinted left hand from Puckerman on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Puckerman takes one to the side of the head.
Waterson has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Waterson misses with a right hand
and Puckerman counters with a right hand to the body.
Puckerman scores with a nice right hand.
Waterson thuds his right hand into Puckerman's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Puckerman wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Waterson swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Puckerman counters with a slapping leg kick.
Waterson dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
A decent looking cross lands there for Puckerman.
Waterson lands the left hand.
Puckerman swings widly with a right hand

so Waterson counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Puckerman bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Waterson's guard.

Puckerman wants to stand but Waterson has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Puckerman wants to stand and escape but instead Waterson has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Con Waterson dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Noah Puckerman's cut.
That's time! Back to the action!


Puckerman uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Waterson.
Waterson misses with a double jab.

Oooooh!!! Waterson has knocked Puckerman down with a huge combo! Waterson steps away and waves a wobbly Puckerman back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!


Puckerman is rocked!
Waterson tries to land a front kick but Puckerman steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Oh Puckerman is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Waterson has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Waterson ducks under a wild hook from Puckerman.
Waterson swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Waterson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Waterson cracks Puckerman with a hook to the temple - Puckerman is on wobbly legs here! Waterson swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! Puckerman falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! Waterson wins by TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Con Waterson!
Con Waterson seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
