Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Omer Short (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brent Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Omer Short!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Brent Scott!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, John Mangel and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scott shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Short as he jumps to the side.
A counter left hand to the body from Short misses its target.

Short dives in and scores a takedown into Scott's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Short preventing the sweep.
Scott is trying to keep Short in close.
Short knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Scott on the ground.
Short is standing up over Scott. Scott looks to escape but Short dives into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Scott struggling a bit here.

Short decides to stand back up. Short steps back and let's Scott get back to his feet.
Short really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Short keeps the fight on the outside.
Scott cracks Short with a good jab.
Scott sizes up Short with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Scott shoots in and drives through. Short sprawls well.
Scott shoots for a takedown but Short saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Short is looking to counter punch.
Omer Short has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brent Scott.

and Short holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Scott looking for a takedown.
Short lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Scott is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Short breaks from the clinch.
Scott tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Short paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Short was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Brent Scott seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Scott closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Scott tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Short counters with a stiff right hand.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Scott wants to clinch
and Scott takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Short shoots in but no luck this time.
Scott wants to clinch.
Short was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Scott shoots for a double leg takedown but Short sprawls well. He's pushed Scott's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Short appears to be looking for a big counter.
No luck for Scott with that takedown attempt.
Scott lands a slapping body shot.
Scott misses with a hook to the body

and Short holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Short is working Scott over against the cage.
Scott takes a knee to the side of the body.
Short tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Scott smiles and moves away.
Scott shoots in for a takedown but Short shows good takedown defense.
Short swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Scott shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Short sprawls well. Short wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Scott gets slowly back to his feet.
It looked like Short was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Scott tries to score a power double leg takedown but Short sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Scott somewhat.
An attempted straight right counter from Short misses the target.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Excellent takedown into side control there by Short.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Scott manages to work his way to half guard, despite Short's best efforts.
Scott is refusing to be controlled, as Short sits in half guard.
Scott wants to get back to full guard.
Scott trying to control from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Scott is looking to escape.
Short is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Scott is looking to control Short's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Scott avoid being mounted?

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Omer Short is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Scott bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Short is trying to control Scott's posture but Scott avoids it.
Scott is looking to take a break and control but Short is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Short is trying to get back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Scott grinds an elbow into Short's temple.
Short is looking for a sweep.
Short holds on tight, trying to prevent any damage.
Short is trying to control Scott's posture but Scott avoids it.
Scott works to advance to full mount. Short defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Scott wants to control the pace but Short is squirming around nicely.
Scott throws some wild stikes that Short manages to avoid easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Short is desperately trying to improve his position but Scott has a good base and remains in mount.
A nice elbow there by Scott.
Scott in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Scott trying to control but Short is having none of it.
Scott might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Short haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Scott postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Short badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Scott around the waist but Scott pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Scott is the winner by TKO! Scott jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Brent Scott!
