PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Abiodun Havilah (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Michael (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jason Michael was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jason Michael!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Havilah jabs Michael right on the nose. Michael blinks but takes it well.

Havilah gets a takedown into half guard.
Michael trying to hold on to Havilah 's head to control him but Havilah postures up.
Havilah not doing much here.
Michael wants to control but Havilah is keeping busy and won't allow it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
It looks like Havilah is going to stand back up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Havilah takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Havilah is looking to take a break and control but Michael is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Michael wants to control but Havilah is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Havilah moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Michael is rocked!

Havilah clinches with his opponent.
Michael is still on wobbly legs! Can Havilah finish him?
Havilah lands an uppercut.
Havilah jerks Michael's head down, straight into the path of a devastating knee! Michael drops to the floor in a crumpled heap! Havilah goes to throw a finishing haymaker but pulls out - good sportsmanship from Havilah because Michael was completely out of it. That was a nice finish - just the right level of brutality to send everyone home happy.
