Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nick Earls (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eric Cartman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Earls comes to the cage accompanied by Tommy Gun. Cartman has chosen The Way Of The Fist as his entrance music. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nick Earls!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Eric Cartman!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Eliza Hachem and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Earls with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Nick Earls seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cartman misses with a double jab.
Earls fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Earls!
Earls takes one on the button.
Cartman misses with a low kick.

Earls closes the distance and clinches.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Cartman wants to get back to striking at distance but Earls won't allow it.
Earls working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.

Cartman breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Earls avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Cartman throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Earls closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Earls lands in his opponent's guard.
Earls throws a big right hand that misses.
Earls stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cartman swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Earls scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Cartman is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Earls is controlling him.

Earls drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Earls jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Earls pushes down on Cartman's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Earls wants to free his trapped foot but Cartman is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Earls is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Earls stops Cartman from getting back to his feet.

Earls seems to be looking for submissions.

Earls looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Earls is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Earls wants to control but Cartman is keeping him busy.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Cartman throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.

Cartman clinches up with Earls and pushes him back against the cage.

Cartman escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Earls showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Cartman.

Cartman scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Cartman misses with an elbow strike.
Earls avoids the elbow strike from Cartman, against the cage.
Cartman is trying to stall.
Cartman tries to break the clinch but Earls is controlling the position.
A nice left hand lands by Earls.
Cartman is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Cartman gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.


It looks like Nick Earls has been cut.
Cartman is trying to break free.
Cartman lands an elbow inside.

Earls breaks from the clinch.
Earls swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Earls circles away from the clinch attempt.
Cartman keeps Earls at a distance using the push kick.
Earls misses with a jab to the body
and Cartman connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Good leg kick by Cartman there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
The fight stays on the outside here - Cartman looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Cartman has closed the distance and engaged Earls in a clinch.

Cartman breaks from the clinch.

Earls drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Cartman is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Earls has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Earls has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Cartman!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cartman wants to get back to his feet.
Cartman tries to hold on but Earls pushes him away.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Earls goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Cartman is on top in guard.
Earls can't keep his opponent in guard - Cartman advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Nick Earls will probably get the nod.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Cartman lands a nice leg kick that just misses Earls's sensitive parts.

Earls throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
The fight stays on the outside here - Cartman looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Eric Cartman seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Earls fails to land with a series of punches.
Cartman swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Earls shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Earls was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Earls has control of Cartman's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Cartman regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Earls jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Cartman is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Cartman and Earls has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Earls shoots in and bounces Cartman off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Earls lands with a nice body kick.
Earls stuffs the takedown.

and Cartman counters with a thumping low kick.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Earls, as that shot connected.

Earls forces Cartman back against the cage and clinches.
Cartman wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Earls has clasped his hands together around Cartman's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Cartman prevents Earls from moving into mount.

Earls is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Cartman has escaped the position, nice work there.

Earls is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Cartman knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Cartman is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Earls's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Earls is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Cartman is just riding it out for now. Earls eventually gives up the hold.

Nice uppercut lands for Earls. That snapped Cartman's head back.
Earls lands a nice hook to Cartman's body. Cartman takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Earls has hold of Cartman's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Cartman seems comfortable defending it but Earls has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Cartman is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Cartman is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Earls couldn't care less - he's delighted!
