Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jon Trujillo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Saul Saullas!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Nard Betker and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Saullas scores with a leg kick.
Saullas is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Trujillo swats away the attempt to clinch by Saullas.
Trujillo tries to score a power double leg takedown but Saullas sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Trujillo somewhat.
Trujillo dodges the punch combination from Saullas.

Saullas gets a double leg takedown into Trujillo's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Saullas wants to stand but Trujillo has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Trujillo looking to hit a scissor sweep but Saullas is one step ahead there.

Trujillo keeping moving, preventing Saullas from controlling successfully.
Saullas sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Trujillo's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Trujillo wants to get back to full guard.
Saullas is trying to control the action in half guard but Trujillo is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Saullas stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Trujillo to get to his feet.

Trujillo gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Saullas to score an easy takedown into full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Trujillo pushes Saullas off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Trujillo tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Trujillo really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
A slapping leg kick lands for Saullas.

Trujillo gets tackled into the cage by Saullas. Saullas maintains the clinch.

Saullas is pressed up against the cage. Trujillo has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Saullas down to the mat. Saullas avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Saullas trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Saullas wants to control from the top but Trujillo keeps moving.
Trujillo can't keep his opponent in guard - Saullas advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Trujillo is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Saullas is thwarting Trujillo's attempts to control the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Trujillo is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Saullas is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Saullas tries to control but Trujillo wriggling away.
Saullas throwing strikes but Trujillo recovers to half guard. A much better position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Saullas looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Saullas on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Trujillo. Trujillo obviously looking to wear him down.

Saullas shoots in and gets a takedown into Trujillo's guard.

Trujillo has his foot on Saullas's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Saullas works his way back into a safe position though.

Trujillo loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Saullas has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Trujillo is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Saullas.

Saullas looks to move to half guard but instead Trujillo has passed into mount! Damn!
Saullas is breathing heavily.
Trujillo connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Saullas regains half guard.
Saullas on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Nice strikes from Trujillo there.
Trujillo slips a nice elbow through Saullas's hands, connecting with Saullas's forehead.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Trujillo prevents Saullas from standing back up.
Trujillo thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Trujillo not doing much here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Saullas closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Saullas wants to stand but Trujillo has his arm trapped.

Saullas swings around for an armbar but Trujillo sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Saullas's guard.
Saullas is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Trujillo makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Trujillo throwing strikes from guard but Saullas blocks nicely.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Jon Trujillo dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Trujillo shoots for a double leg takedown but Saullas sprawls well. He's pushed Trujillo's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Saullas blocks a head kick by Trujillo.

Saullas drives through with a takedown into Trujillo's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Saullas is trying to control. Trujillo wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Saullas wants to stand up but Trujillo is controlling the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Saullas throws a head kick that misses.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Saullas.
Saullas takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Trujillo is trying to get back to half guard.

Saullas wants to stand but Trujillo has his arm trapped.
Trujillo tries to buck Saullas off but Saullas is having none of it.
Saullas avoids the strikes from the bottom by Trujillo.
Saullas in side control, throwing shots but Trujillo defends.
Trujillo regains half guard.
Trujillo gets full guard.
Saullas sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Trujillo lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Saullas doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Saullas looking for a guillotine here but Trujillo defends easily.
Trujillo throws a big right hand that misses.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Trujillo is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Saullas has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Saullas escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Trujillo gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Trujillo fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Saullas avoids it really well and circles away.

And that's the end of the fight!
Saul Saullas comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Saullas has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
