PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Wyatt Jordan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phillip Carson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Phillip Carson told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Wyatt Jordan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Phillip Carson!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Carson shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Carson showed some decent athleticism there.
Jordan controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
Jordan looks like he's trying to stand up.

Carson is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Jordan has managed to free his arm - good work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jordan is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Carson keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Let's hope that Carson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Carson tries to stand and escape but Jordan is controlling the position.
Jordan is trying to maintain the position but Carson is very close to passing his half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Carson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Jordan struggling a bit here.
Carson working the ground and pound but Jordan is defending the strikes.

Carson looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Jordan gets back to half guard.
Jordan works his way to full guard. Good work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carson looking to pass the guard.
Jordan looking to control.
Carson content to stall in guard here.
Carson postures up in Jordan's guard and throws a big left but Jordan blocks it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Carson trying to control the position from guard on top but Jordan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Jordan fails with a takedown attempt.
Carson lands with a straight right. Jordan didn't see that one coming.


It looks like Wyatt Jordan has been cut.

Jordan gets tackled into the cage by Carson. Carson maintains the clinch.

Jordan is looking for a takedown.

Jordan pulls guard.
Carson slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Carson is trying to move to mount but Jordan reverses beautifully and ends up in Carson's guard.
Jordan stopping the sweep attempt from Carson.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jordan lands a couple of digs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Phillip Carson dominated that round.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Carson scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Carson is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Carson wants to take a breather but Jordan is having none of it.
Carson sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Jordan defending well though.
Carson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Carson trying to pass the guard but Jordan defending well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Carson is just content to waste time from the top position. Jordan takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Carson is looking to stand up but Jordan won't let him.

Carson looking to sit in guard and control but Jordan gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Carson is trying to control the position but Jordan postures up.

Carson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Jordan defends well.
Carson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Carson is looking to sweep but instead, Jordan has passed into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Carson trying to hold on to Jordan's head to control him but Jordan postures up.

Carson is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Jordan has latched onto it... Big trouble! Jordan pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Carson is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Jordan!
