The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Gene postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Pierre wants to control but Gene postures up.
Gene wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pierre keeps working.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Pierre can do anything to dispel that myth.
Pierre manages to get back to half guard.

Gene throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Pierre misses with a looping left.
Gene fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Pierre.

Pierre feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Gene has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Pierre doesn't defend quickly enough and Gene has managed to lock this one up! Can Pierre escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Gene on a fantastic submission victory.
