PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Von Hammer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bittor Xavier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Xavier is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Jane's Addiction- Mountain Song. Bittor Xavier told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
31 - 26 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bittor Xavier!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Dillan Fox and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Xavier slips a straight right by Hammer.
And Xavier tries to counter it with a takedown but Hammer pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Hammer throws a lazy uppercut
so Xavier counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Xavier trying to control but Hammer is working from the bottom.
Xavier advances position into side control!
Hammer is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Xavier is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Xavier seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Hammer is holding on tight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Xavier jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Hammer is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Hammer and Xavier has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Xavier is trying to get an arm triangle but Hammer is defending well.
Xavier has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Hammer just holding on.
Hammer looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Xavier looking to secure an arm triangle but Hammer defends it well.
Xavier misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Hammer knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Xavier on the ground.
Xavier seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Hammer is holding on tight.
Xavier landing punches.
Xavier moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Hammer has worked his arm free - good work by Hammer!
Xavier is trying to get an arm triangle but Hammer is defending well.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Xavier misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Xavier tries to advance to mount but can't.
Xavier in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Hammer is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Bittor Xavier!
