Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Roope Latvala (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Opie River (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Latvala comes to the cage accompanied by Children of Bodom - Tie my rope. The crowd seem to be enjoying River's choice of entrance music: Skillet - Monster . I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Roope Latvala!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 2, fighting out of New York, Opie River!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Dillan Fox and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Latvala lands a glancing blow to the side of River's head.
Latvala motions for River to come forward. Latvala throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Latvala takes one to the chin there.
Latvala throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Latvala throws an off balance right hand
and River counters with a straight right hand.
Latvala swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
River finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Latvala throws a body shot but no joy.
Latvala swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

and River counters with a nice low kick that buckles Latvala's knee momentarily.

and River counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

River has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Latvala is pushing River up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

River has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Latvala is trying to keep an underhook but River manages to get the takedown into half guard.

River stalling away here and it's allowed Latvala to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

River got a little sloppy there for a moment and Latvala has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, River has managed to get both his arms back between Latvala's legs - danger averted.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
River has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Opie River showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

River slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Opie River is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Opie River comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got River winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
