The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lowery gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Reeves to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Lowery had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Reeves defends it easily.
Reeves throwing strikes but missing.
Lowery preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Reeves is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Lowery utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lowery striking off his back but it's not causing Reeves any problems.
Lowery might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Reeves is looking to stand up but Lowery won't let him.

Reeves trying to control the position from guard on top but Lowery is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Lowery pushes Reeves off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Reeves fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Lowery to the ground. Reeves is now in Lowery's guard.

Lowery is looking for a triangle here but Reeves uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Lowery is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Reeves off and has taken his back!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Reeves is trying to stand back up.
Lowery doesn't have the hooks in and Reeves manages to turn into his guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Lowery has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Lowery wants to sweep but no luck.
Lowery keeping moving, preventing Reeves from controlling successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lowery is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Reeves escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Reeves throws a nice looking combination but Lowery bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Lowery throws a quick counter head kick but Reeves was just out of range.

Reeves scores with a takedown into Lowery's guard.
Reeves looks winded!
Lowery wants to sweep but no luck.
Reeves is looking to stand up but Lowery won't let him.
Lowery bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Reeves's guard.

Lowery stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Reeves throws a right hand that misses
and Lowery counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Reeves doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Cody Reeves seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Lowery is looking to cinch up a triangle. Reeves throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Lowery's body to avoid the submission. Lowery has instead reached around Reeves's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Lowery arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
