Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lyle Powell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kelly Marks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kelly Marks!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Alyssa Summers and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marks keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Marks looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Marks shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Marks throws a body punch but Powell moves out of range.
Powell walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Marks scores with the left hand. Powell knows he should have avoided that one.
Powell misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Powell changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Marks fights it off and pushes away nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lyle Powell. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Powell slaps away a takedown attempt from Marks, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Powell fails with the takedown.

Marks throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Marks swings for the body but Powell moves out of range.
Powell throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Marks's waist but Marks gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Powell off to one side.
Marks misses with an uppercut.

Nice defenses there by Powell.
Marks is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Powell.

Powell shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Marks's guard.
Powell content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Marks is adopting a defensive guard.
Powell throws a big right hand that misses.
Powell is stalling in the full guard.
Marks is trying to hold Powell in close to prevent damage but Powell has managed to pass into half guard.
Powell drops an elbow to the side of Marks's head.
Marks tries to get to full guard but Powell has control of the leg.
Marks is not content to let Powell control the position.

Powell is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Marks has managed to free his arm - good work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Marks keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Powell landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Powell is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Marks sees it coming and defends easily.
Powell is keen to just control but Marks is a slippery customer.
Marks wants to improve his position but Powell is controlling well.

Powell is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Marks is just riding it out for now. Powell eventually gives up the hold.
Marks is doing well to control the position and prevent Powell from advancing to side control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Marks can do anything to dispel that myth.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Powell throws a strike but Marks avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Marks has momentary wrist control but Powell slips an elbow through the middle.
Marks trying to keep a closed guard but Powell is proving a slippery customer.
Powell postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Powell wants to control from the top but Marks keeps moving.
Powell throwing strikes but missing.
Powell trying to control the position from guard on top but Marks is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Powell trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Marks looking for a sweep. Not yet Marks, not yet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Lyle Powell will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Powell is trying to control the action in half guard but Marks is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Powell is working for a kimura but Marks is defending it quite comfortably.
Powell prevents Marks from improving his position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Powell wants to lay and pray for a moment but Marks keeps working.
Lyle Powell overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Powell seems to be working for a kimura but Marks defends the submission attempt.

Powell has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Marks defend it? Powell steps over the head and cranks it - Marks is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Powell!
