PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Giovanni Humphrey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bruce Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Giovanni Humphrey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bruce Lee!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Tiny Johnson and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee throws a hook to the side of Humphrey's head but Humphrey sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Lee misses with a head kick.
Humphrey throwing a counter right hand but Lee manages to avoid it.
Lee throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Humphrey moves out of range as Lee throws a body kick.
Humphrey swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Lee lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Humphrey circles away quickly and effectively.
A little feinted left hand from Humphrey on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Lee misses with the combination.
Bruce Lee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lee lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Humphrey circles away quickly and effectively.

Humphrey drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Humphrey prevents Lee from escaping the position.
Humphrey fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Lee is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Humphrey has just dragged him back down to the mat.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Humphrey tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Humphrey really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Humphrey is trying to get an arm triangle but Lee is defending well.

Humphrey decides to stand up, so the ref orders Lee to his feet.

Lee closes the distance and clinches.

Humphrey tries to pull guard but Lee won't allow it.
Lee jumps guard but Humphrey stands there with Lee around his waist. Lee gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Humphrey ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Humphrey no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Lee decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Humphrey, up you get!
Lee throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Lee closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Lee lands a hook that snaps the head of Humphrey backwards.

Humphrey jumps into guard, dragging Lee to the mat.
Lee must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lee accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Humphrey is pulling down on Lee's head to control his posture.
Humphrey working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Lee.
Lee distracts Humphrey with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Lee would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Humphrey controls Lee momentarily but Lee frees himself.
Humphrey will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Lee throws a strike but Humphrey rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Humphrey gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Giovanni Humphrey will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Lee shoots in and bounces Humphrey off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Humphrey pulls Lee in close to prevent any damage.
Lee has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Humphrey is proving hard to escape from.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Humphrey is controlling Lee's posture.

Humphrey is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Lee is aware though and is defending well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lee throws an elbow that misses. Humphrey uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Lee's guard. Nice move by Humphrey!

Lee wriggles free and stands up.
Lee misses with a head kick.
It looked like Humphrey wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Humphrey keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Sloppy strikes from Lee. Those never looked like landing.

Humphrey feints and as Lee raises his hands in defense, Humphrey changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Lee avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Humphrey prevents Lee from getting back to his feet.
Humphrey content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Humphrey postures up in Lee's guard and throws a big left but Lee blocks it.

Humphrey tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Lee defends well and Humphrey ends up having to push Lee into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Lee lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Lee looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Humphrey is fending him off so far but Lee persists. Nope, Humphrey circles away and we're back to standing.

Lee throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Humphrey gets a double leg takedown into Lee's guard.
Lee utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Humphrey accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Humphrey throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Humphrey decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Lee throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Humphrey cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Lee looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Lee lands an overhand right.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Giovanni Humphrey will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Lee looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Lee lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Lee.


Humphrey is rocked!
Both fighters circling slowly here as the pace drops. Hopefully one of them does someth.. OOOHHHH!!!! Lee throws an absolute beast of a head kick! Humphrey is done! He's out cold, twisted and contorted up against the cage! Wow!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:23 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Bruce Lee!
