The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yamazaki throws a hook to the side of Portgas's head but Portgas sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Portgas misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Yamazaki throws a nice looking combination but Portgas bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Kazushi Yamazaki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Portgas looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Yamazaki!

Portgas looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Portgas is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Yamazaki is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Yamazaki is looking to regain half guard here but Portgas keeps moving and retains side control.
Yamazaki pushes Portgas away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Portgas gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
