Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Josh Acton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Edu Alvarez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Josh Acton looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Ivan Kurochkin and Igor Prikhodko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alvarez closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Alvarez is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Acton is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Alvarez thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Alvarez is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Acton knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
My spies in Ironfist MMA inform me that Alvarez has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Alvarez remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Alvarez bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Acton's guard.

Alvarez drops back looking for a leg! Acton is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Acton manages to kick Alvarez off! Alvarez jumps back into Acton's guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Alvarez pushes down on Acton's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Alvarez seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Acton does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Acton tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Alvarez has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Acton fails with a takedown attempt.

Alvarez throws a wild body kick that Acton sees coming a mile off.
Acton tries to close the distance and clinch but Alvarez swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Acton gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Alvarez to score an easy takedown into full guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Alvarez stands and throws Acton's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Acton is not content to let Alvarez control the position.

Alvarez has hold of Acton's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Acton tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Alvarez cranks the arm and Acton screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Acton, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Edu Alvarez!
An out of breath Edu Alvarez thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
