PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cain Velasqs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Onanias Runkman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Runkman has chosen Anderson Silva DANCING Justin Bieber SONG as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Cain Velasqs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Onanias Runkman!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Runkman keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Velasqs.
Velasqs really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Velasqs takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Velasqs closes the distance and clinches up with Runkman, looking for a takedown. Velasqs pushes Runkman against the cage but Runkman circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Velasqs shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Runkman's guard.

Runkman had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Velasqs defends it easily.

Velasqs drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Velasqs jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Runkman is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Velasqs pulls his head out easily.

Velasqs is looking for a kimura but Runkman is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Velasqs to get the leverage.
Runkman tries to roll over but Velasqs keeps him under control.

Velasqs stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Runkman swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Runkman cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Velasqs tries to reverse the position but Runkman maintains control.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Velasqs misses with a looping left.
Runkman fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Velasqs changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Runkman looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Velasqs thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Velasqs has control of Runkman's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Runkman regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Runkman chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Velasqs can pounce on him.

After winning the bout, Cain Velasqs thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
