PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eusebio Peterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ragnar Rage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Eusebio Peterson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ragnar Rage!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, John Roberts and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peterson circles away from the clinch attempt.
Rage thows a leg kick but Peterson checks it
and Peterson counters with a leg kick.
Ragnar Rage seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Peterson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rage tries to avoid it but Peterson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rage to the ground. Rage escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Rage shoots in and gets a takedown into Peterson's guard.
Peterson looking to control.
Rage works over Peterson with some ground and pound from guard.
Rage's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Peterson controls Rage momentarily but Rage frees himself.
Rage really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Peterson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Rage controlling from the top position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rage trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rage postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Peterson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rage doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rage manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Rage trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Peterson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rage can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Peterson pulls Rage in close to his closed guard and prevents Rage from doing any damage or advancing position.
Rage showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Peterson keeping full guard, as Rage tries to pass.
Rage forces his way into half guard.

Peterson kicks Rage off and gets back to his feet.
Rage swinging wildly here.
Rage tries to close the distance and clinch up but Peterson swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Rage misses with a hook. Peterson ducked under it nicely.

Rage looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Rage is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Rage stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Peterson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Peterson throwing strikes off his back to little effect.

Rage is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Peterson is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Peterson has escaped and now he's on top!

Peterson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Peterson throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rage wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Rage wants to sweep but no luck.

Rage is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Peterson is aware though and is defending well.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Rage tries to clinch but Peterson is having none of it.
Rage has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Peterson gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Rage to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Ragnar Rage has got the better of the ground game so far.

Rage looking to sit in guard and control but Peterson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Peterson wants to stand but Rage has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Rage wants to stand but Peterson is controlling the position.
Peterson trying to stand up but can't free himself from Rage's guard.

Peterson stands up from Rage's guard - Peterson perhaps looking for a knockout.

Rage looking to score a takedown here. Peterson is defending well but Rage drives through and ends up in Peterson's guard.
Rage sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Peterson is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Rage pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Peterson is keeping the position for now.
Peterson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Rage postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Peterson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Rage, into his guard.


Rage has an active guard here but Peterson has managed to pass into half guard.
Rage wants to get back to full guard but Peterson has passed into side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rage is looking for a sweep.

Peterson working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Peterson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Rage knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Rage is looking to regain half guard here but Peterson keeps moving and retains side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Eusebio Peterson will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Peterson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rage's waist but Rage gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Peterson off to one side.
Rage tries to clinch but Peterson moves out of range.

Rage throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Peterson tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Rage is in Peterson's guard.

Peterson is looking for a triangle here but Rage uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Rage is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Peterson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Rage stands up.

Peterson closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Rage did well to prevent Peterson getting side control.
Rage wants to control but Peterson is keeping busy.

Rage looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Peterson is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Rage has managed to free his arm - good work.
Rage wants to improve his position but Peterson is controlling well.

Rage strikes from the bottom but Peterson uses the opportunity to move to side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Peterson tries to score with some ground and pound. Rage controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Peterson has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Peterson drives through with a takedown into Rage's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Rage has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Peterson is working away from the top position though.
Rage tries to kick Peterson off but Peterson keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Rage is doing well to control the position and prevent Peterson from advancing to side control.

Peterson decides to return to a standing position.
Ragnar Rage is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Rage takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Rage shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Rage was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Rage lands a decent elbow from side control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Peterson is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Ragnar Rage.
Well Rage has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
