PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Boxing Comte Jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Patricio Freire (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Comte Jr comes to the cage accompanied by Viceroy by Mac DeMarco. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Jeff Smith and Roger Salmon.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Comte Jr misses with the combination.
Freire is trying hard to land a takedown here. Comte Jr sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Comte Jr smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Comte Jr gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Freire stops Comte Jr from standing up.

Freire drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Freire jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Comte Jr utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Freire stops Comte Jr from standing up.
Comte Jr tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Freire wants to pass the guard but Comte Jr is keeping the position.

Freire postures up in Comte Jr's guard and throws a big left but Comte Jr blocks it.

Freire drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Freire jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Freire has gone for a leg lock! Comte Jr slips out almost immediately though and dives into Freire's guard.

Comte Jr has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Comte Jr's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Freire has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Freire is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Comte Jr defends well.

Freire is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Comte Jr frees his head nicely. Oh but Freire has switched to an armbar! Comte Jr is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!

Patricio Freire tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
