PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Sub Norris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chibi Tsushima (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Norris comes into the arena with Norris Man - When Your Time Is Up blaring out of the sound system. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

With a record of 22 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Chibi Tsushima!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Hirohito Nitta and Ren Mimura.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Norris fails in his attempt to clinch.
Tsushima lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Norris closes the distance and pushes Tsushima back into the cage.
Tsushima prevents a body shot from Norris.
Norris misses with the head strike.
Tsushima lands with a short shot to the head.
Norris swings wildly with an uppercut but Tsushima uses good head movement to avoid it.

Tsushima's coach down at Tōshi was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Tsushima's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Tsushima manages to break the clinch.
Norris throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Tsushima.
Tsushima shoots in looking for a takedown but Norris manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Tsushima's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Tsushima shoots in looking for a takedown. Norris tries to sprawl out of it but Tsushima keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Norris manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Sub Norris has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chibi Tsushima.

Norris fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Tsushima.

We've been hearing reports that Norris has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Norris is pushing Tsushima up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Tsushima has Norris pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Tsushima pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Norris tumbling to the mat - Tsushima dives into Norris's guard.
Norris will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Tsushima wants to pass the guard but Norris is keeping the position.

Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

Norris working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Tsushima doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Tsushima manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Tsushima prevents Norris from getting back to his feet.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Tsushima dives in and grabs Norris's left leg, looking for a takedown. Norris pushes down on Tsushima's head and hops out.
Tsushima dives in for a single leg takedown but Norris sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Norris went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Tsushima shoots in for a takedown but Norris shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Norris lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Tsushima circles away quickly and effectively.

Tsushima shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Tsushima was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Norris tries to escape but Tsushima is in control.
Tsushima postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Norris pushes Tsushima away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Tsushima gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Tsushima tries to score with some ground and pound. Norris controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Tsushima tries to advance to mount but Norris denies him.

Tsushima wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Norris, who protects the arm well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Chibi Tsushima will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action!

Tsushima closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Norris to the mat! Norris manages to get full guard.
Norris is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Tsushima has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Tsushima pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Oh Norris is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Tsushima is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Norris has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Tsushima lands a big shot there that rocks Norris but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Tsushima tries to control but Norris wriggling away.

Tsushima is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Norris is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Norris flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Tsushima anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Norris and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Tsushima slips an arm under Norris chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Tsushima has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Tsushima is squeezing on Norris like an anaconda would it's prey. Norris fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
