Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lyman Tran (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hendog Thornton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hendog Thornton has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Lyman Tran's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tran fails with an attempt to clinch.

Thornton shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Tran napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Tran is looking to regain half guard here but Thornton keeps moving and retains side control.
Tran tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Tran is looking to improve his position but Thornton isn't that keen on the idea.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Thornton trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Thornton working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Thornton looking to ground and pound but Tran is blocking nicely.
Tran is squirming around, avoiding Thornton's attempts to control the action.

Tran is trying to reverse the position but instead Thornton has taken his back - oops!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Tran tries to roll but Thornton sticks to his back.

Thornton is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Tran knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Tran for a finish.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Tran rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

Thornton is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Tran is just riding it out for now. Thornton eventually gives up the hold.

Tran looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Thornton pushes past his half guard into mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hendog Thornton dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Thornton darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Thornton in particular looking to stall.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tran is trying to get back to full guard.

Hendog Thornton has got the better of the ground game so far.
Thornton is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Tran closes the distance looking to clinch
letting Thornton counter with a right hand.

Thornton thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Tran is looking for a sweep. Thornton is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Hendog Thornton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Thornton goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Tran is rocked!

It looks like Lyman Tran has been cut.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Thornton shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Thornton showed some decent athleticism there.
Oh Tran is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Thornton looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Thornton missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Thornton takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Thornton decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Thornton closes the distance looking for a takedown. Tran stuffs it but Thornton still has hold of him. Thornton picks Tran up in a fireman's lift! The crowd roars in approval. Thornton slams Tran to the floor and that's really hurt Tran - he doesn't know where he is! Thornton throws a couple of strikes and the referee steps in to save him! This one is in the books!
