Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Abel Cruz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kendall Rison!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Paul Gruel and Micheangelo Fripello.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rison clinches up against the cage.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Rison working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Rison is keen to just control but Cruz is a slippery customer.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Rison lands a nice short elbow.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cruz has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Rison is working away from the top position though.

Rison is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Cruz doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Rison.
Rison is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cruz escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rison gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Rison is sitting in close to Cruz's body. Cruz has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Rison is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Rison is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Cruz.
