PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joey Kocur (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Silent Bob (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kocur comes into the arena with Head Crusher - Megadeth blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joey Kocur!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Silent Bob!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bob checks a leg kick nicely.
Bob misses with a low kick as Kocur jumps back.
A thudding body kick lands there by Bob!
Kocur misses with a looping right.
Kocur pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Bob shoots and misses
letting Kocur counter with a right hand.
Kocur throws a head kick that misses.
Bob scores with a kick to the midsection.
Bob throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Kocur makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Bob really felt that one!
Bob looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Bob moves out of range of the body kick from Kocur.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kocur thows a left - swing and a miss!
Kocur moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Bob misses the shot to the body.
Kocur was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Bob throws a leg kick that is checked
and Kocur counters with a nice uppercut.

Kocur keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Bob is looking to slow Kocur down with leg kicks.
Kocur has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Kocur connects with a leg kick. Bob looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
A jab from Kocur does it's job there.
Silent Bob seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bob throws a wild body kick that Kocur sees coming a mile off.
Bob rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Kocur counters with a body kick that stops Bob in his tracks momentarily.
Bob looks to throw the jab but Kocur is out of range.
Bob throws a hook but Kocur blocks it.
Bob misses with a hook.
Kocur tried to counter with a leg kick but Bob avoided it.
Bob lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Bob connects with a solid leg kick.
Kocur misses with a hook. Bob ducked under it nicely.
Bob takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bob with a poor takedown
and Kocur counters with a nice uppercut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Bob rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
enabling Kocur to counter with a crisp jab.
Kocur blocks a jab.
Bob throws the kick towards the body but Kocur avoids it.
Bob thuds a left hand into Kocur's body.
Kocur swings for the body but Bob moves out of range.
Bob takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Bob throws out a powerful jab.
An inside leg kick lands from Kocur.
Kocur misses with a straight right.
Bob throws a body kick that misses.
Bob swings and misses with a hook to the body.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bob throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Kocur counters with a stiff right hand.
Bob throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Kocur counters with a right hand to the body.
Kocur misses with a low kick.
Bob throws a low kick but it's checked well by Kocur.
Kocur blocks the body kick.
Kocur appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Kocur throws a leg kick which misses Bob's front leg but catches the back leg as Bob tries to avoid it.
Bob throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Bob throws a chopping leg kick but Kocur manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Kocur uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Bob.

Kocur lands a big head kick that sends Bob tumbling to the mat! Kocur takes a step backwards and waves Bob back to his feet - he wants the finish!


It looks like Silent Bob has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Bob missing with a left hand there. Kocur was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Kocur with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Kocur looks to land a right hand but Bob moved out of range.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kocur takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Bob throws out a loose jab but Kocur uses good head movement to avoid it.
Bob throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Kocur swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Bob doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Kocur makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Joey Kocur has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Silent Bob.
Bob uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Kocur.
Kocur attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Bob throws a low kick but Kocur moves out of range easily.
Kocur jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Bob on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Bob is looking to land body kicks.
Nice defenses there by Kocur.
Kocur is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Bob moves out of range as Kocur strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joey Kocur dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Silent Bob's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Kocur keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Bob looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kocur is fending him off so far but Bob persists. Nope, Kocur circles away and we're back to standing.
Bob swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Kocur drops Bob with a beautiful combination! Bob stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Kocur is looking for the KO!


Bob is rocked!
Kocur keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Bob is still on wobbly legs! Can Kocur finish him?
Kocur cracks Bob with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the cage! Bob falls to his knees and Kocur doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Joey Kocur!

Joey Kocur decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
